BlueWave Technology congratulates the Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals (HAIP) for winning the distinguished Jeffrey Nordhaus Education Award at the recent National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) regional meeting in Salt Lake City. The award honors the local association within the NAIW region which has most significantly contributed to insurance education. Competing associations were evaluated on the courses taught or attended by members, and educational articles written by association members on insurance topics.

Leila Tamashiro, president of HAIP and chief industry analyst at BlueWave Technology, accepted the award.  In addition to being the current HAIP president, she was also one of the instructors that were an integral part of helping the association win this important award. Tamashiro’s distinguished career includes 30 years of experience as a claims professional, and she has held positions at leading insurance companies such as State Farm and Island Insurance Company. She has also served as chairman of the board of directors for the Hawaii Property Insurance Association, and as a legislative committee member for the Hawaii Insurers Council.

“I am proud to receive this award on behalf of HAIP”, said Tamashiro.  “This is the culmination of the diligent efforts of our Awards Committee, chaired by Charlene Mizumoto and Marian Nakashima, and all of our dedicated members.”

The HAIP is the local chapter of the NAIW. Founded in 1947, the mission of NAIW/HAIP is education and establishing alliances. The organization provides professional education, an environment in which to build business alliances, and other opportunities to make connections with individuals of differing career paths and levels of insurance experience.
